End of the Year Newsletter May 21. 2020
It’s hard to believe this is the last day of our 2019-2020 school year! We hope this message finds you well and looking forward to the summer break.
This Thursday, May 21 at 4:00 p.m. report cards will be available online in Infinite Campus (IC). To view your child's report card, log into the Campus Portal, select a student from the drop down at the top of the page (if you have more than one child enrolled in Adams 12 Five Star Schools), click the "Reports" tab on the left side of the screen and then click “Standards Based Report-Progress Card”. More information on how to navigate the Campus Portal is available here.
If you do not have a Campus Portal account, click on “Need an account?” and follow the prompts to create an account. If you have forgotten your username or password, click on “Forgot Password?” or “Forgot Username?”, respectively, to follow the process to change your password or retrieve your username.
As usual, you will see a mark of 1 to 4 to indicate progress towards mastery on specific standards for all classes. Please note, a mark of INS signifies to families and future teachers that the student did not engage enough in the learning to provide the teacher sufficient evidence to ascertain a numerical mark. Additionally, a mark of / signifies to families and future teachers that a specific GRC was either not introduced at all by the teacher prior to our transition to remote learning and/or only minimal coverage of the standard occurred as a result of reduced instruction during asynchronous learning and, therefore, a teacher did not have the evidence to ascertain progress towards mastery on that specific standard.
You may remember a few months ago, you were asked to complete a Family/School Relationship survey. Staff relationships with families is a category in this survey that we prioritize and value! As a school staff, we are proud of our growth mindset and the ways in which we look for opportunities to grow and learn. Because of this, our staff is seeking your feedback and insight during this remote learning time. Adams 12 sent out a brief survey as one avenue to share your feedback. More specifically to Thunder Vista, we have created a few school specific questions that align to our priority of supporting both the academic and social/emotional success of our students. When you have a moment, please consider completing this brief parent survey as well. Although much of the approaches and structures established during this remote learning time were district-wide decisions, there are components within our control that we would want to replicate and others that may need some adjustment. You have all worked so hard to provide support for your children during this time and we want to consider your feedback if remote learning is needed in the upcoming school year. Your responses are greatly appreciated!
We hope you find time to relax, restore, and rejuvenate this summer. As we transition to summer break, we want to share some supportive resource links for your family. Please read this letter from our mental wellness team. Additionally, resources can be accessed on the mental wellness page of our website, which can be found here.
With the help of our extremely talented music teachers, we were able to capture a celebration of this school year and give a warm send off to the summer. We hope you enjoy this End of Year video. Although we had to remain physically distanced this 4th quarter, our students, teachers, support staff, and families demonstrated that we are still very much 'together'. In the words of Olivia Newton John, “We go together like rama lama lama ka dina da dinga dong!”
Finally, please continue to check our website (https://thundervista.adams12.org/) over the summer for important updates. We are already looking forward to beginning another amazing school year next fall!
Take care, enjoy the summer and be well!
