I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Instructional Coach this year as well as teaching Math! I am looking forward to partnering alongside my amazing peers and learning together as we continue to deliver the best possible instruction for all our learners!
I am passionate about teaching and believe all students can learn to high levels when held to high expectations. I enjoy giving students opportunities to think deeply about Math and Science and apply this thinking to real world situations. I love working alongside students as they learn to think quantitatively and develop an inquiry relationship with Mathematics and Science. I can’t wait to explore challenging concepts and problems with you next year!
I received a BS in Biology and Mathematics from the US Air Force Academy. After serving in the military, I earned a MEd in Math and Science Education and have been teaching 7th-12th grade Math and Science ever since. My classroom experience includes teaching 8th grade Physical Science, HS Biology, Chemistry and Physics and a Math/Science application course. While home with my children, I worked privately with individuals and small groups of all levels including several Math and Science extension/applications groups for more advanced learners. This is my fourth year at Thunder Vista and I am looking forward to teaching 8th Grade Math and serving as the Instructional Coach!
I have three wonderful kiddos – Adam, Christopher, and Juliana and two furry children - Charlie and Mia. Outside of school I enjoy continually learning, game nights and spending time outdoors with my family.
“A lot of scientific evidence suggests that the difference between those who succeed and those who don't is not the brains they were born with, but their approach to life, the messages they receive about their potential, and the opportunities they have to learn.”
- Dr. Jo Boaler, Professor Mathematics Education, Stanford
