I am excited and grateful to be part of a wonderful year of learning at Thunder Vista. I have been teaching since 2002 when I graduated from CU Boulder and became a Teach For America corps member for two years in the Los Angeles area. While there I got my Masters degree in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University. When I moved back to Colorado I was thrilled to join the Adams12 community and teach 4th grade at Westview Elementary. During my time at Westview, I also taught 5th grade and was the Literacy Coach for a couple years. I am looking forward to my next chapter of teaching with the Thunder Vista Family.
When I am not teaching, I am busy being a mom to my two daughters. Spending time with my family is a gift I treasure. My kids are at great ages for family bike rides, games, backpacking, and skiing. To take care of myself, I frequent the gym and also like biking, running, and playing in my garden. Then I have fun experimenting with new meal recipes and indulging in gluten free baking.
As a teacher, I appreciate the opportunity to help students understand concepts, consider ideas, and ponder various perspectives. Through this process, I encourage kids to question their own assumptions, realize fresh thinking, and come to new conclusions. I look forward to a fabulous year of learning and growth!
