I am so thrilled to be joining the 1st grade team at Thunder Vista this year! Last year, I taught kindergarten at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary School and previous to that I taught preschool. I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, students, and families at this amazing school.
I was born in Minnesota, but I grew up in a town in Northern Iowa called Mason City. I lived in both Arizona and California before moving to Colorado in 2004. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Regis University.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, reading, going to see live music, and spending time with my golden retriever, Violet, and my cat, Calliope. I love the mountains of Colorado and all the activities that they offer year round. My favorite mountain towns to visit are Grand Lake, Estes Park, and Breckenridge. However, I am one of the very few people here that does not ski or snowboard!
In my classroom, I encourage students to have courage and be kind! I am commited to creating a classroom culture where all students know they are welcome, important, and loved.
